A native of Miami, FL, Wiley Hicks married Amy Wickstrom in 1993, and has three sons, Perry, Eric, and Sam. Perry graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn, and is licensed to practice law in both Georgia and Florida. Eric received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in accounting at Auburn and currently works for Cox Industries in Atlanta. Eric is married to his college sweetheart, Mary. Sam also lives in Atlanta, graduated with a degree in Finance from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and currently works for a boutique investment firm. Wiley is currently a lawyer in Miami, Florida, and practices eminent domain law. Eminent domain is the right of the government to take private property for public purposes. For over 30 years, Wiley has represented property and business owners when the government or public utilities attempt to acquire property using the power of eminent domain. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1985, after graduating from law school at the University of Florida. While at UF, he was a member and associate editor of the Law Review.
He is a member of the Florida Bar and the Federal Bars for the Southern District of Florida and the Middle District of Florida. He was the Secretary of the Florida Bar Board of Governors, Young Lawyers Division (“YLD”), and served as a member on the YLD Board of Governors from 1991 through 1993. He is currently a Special Advisor to the Executive Council of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar. In 2021 and 2022, he was Chair of the Executive Council, one of only two legacy chairs in the history of the Trial Lawyers Section. Wiley’s father, Bill Hicks, was also chair of the section. Additionally, Wiley was a member of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables and was its President during the 2009-2010 year, and Rotarian of the Year in 2008.
Wiley and Amy bought their first residential property in Park City back in 2004 in the Wasatch Condominiums at 1384 Park Avenue. The place was a mess, with junk cars, old tires, and garbage strewn everywhere, along with several units where as many as three families resided. Wiley was elected to the condominium board a few years later and, along with two other dedicated board members, turned the condition of the condominium around. Wiley served as a board member for over 13 years, until they sold that unit and bought their current home in Jeremy Ranch in 2019.
